Skilled worker border exemption
As part of the easing of border restrictions, skilled workers who are offshore and have a job offer in New Zealand to earn at least 1.5 times the median wage (NZD $84,240 a year or NZD $40.50 an hour) for a role longer than 6 months, may now seek a border exemption and Critical Purpose visa.
The requirement to demonstrate that your skills are not readily obtainable in New Zealand has also been removed.
These workers may enter New Zealand with their partners and dependent children.
Split families
In line with the above changes, offshore partners and dependent children of a worker in New Zealand who is earning at least 1.5 times the median wage, who have previously been unable to travel to new Zealand due to border restrictions, may now seek a Critical Purpose Visa to travel to New Zealand.
