The NZ Government has confirmed that Tier 2 of the Green List will be expanded from 29th May 2023, to include a number of teaching roles. These teaching roles will be added to the Work to Residence Green List pathway from 29th May. As a result, eligible teachers will be able to apply for residence after working in their New Zealand role for at least 24 months, subject to the requirements listed below:
NZ registration with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
A provisional practising certificate issued by the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages must be working in a primary, intermediate or secondary school
In addition, once these roles have been added to the Green List on 29th May 2023, employers will not be required to show evidence of advertising when they submit a Job Check for an Accredited Employer Work Visa. And teachers working in a Green List role on an Accredited Employer Work Visa will be able to sponsor a partner on an open work visa.
