The New Zealand Government has announced they will paused the planned increase of the median wage rate for the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) that was due to be introduced in February 2024.
This means that the current wage rate of NZ$29.66 per hour will stay in place for most AEWVs. And the Care Workforce Sector Agreement current hourly rate of NZ$26.16 will also be unchanged.
However, the median wage increase (from NZ$29.66 to NZ$31.61), will still impact other visa categories that use it. As a result, applications for the Skilled Migrant Category and Parent Category, that are received from February 2024, will need to meet the higher wage threshold of NZ$31.61.
Immigration New Zealand will announce further changes to AEWVs in due course.
